About Us

We create garments that honour individuality, culture, and craft.

Rooted in African design and shaped by a global perspective, our collections blend heritage influences with contemporary tailoring. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to feel modern, refined, and distinctly personal.

We believe great clothing begins with fit. That is why our garments are offered in standard sizes and custom measurements, ensuring each piece is made to complement the person wearing it — not the other way around.

We're not fast fashion: we create clothes for each customer as they order. It takes a week for standard sizes, an extra week for custom sizing, but each garment is created by us, in our studio, for you. We employ local tailors and take pride in paying our team members well. We ask for their best work and recognise their talent, and we take time to build relationships with our suppliers, customers and our community.

Our approach is intentional and considered. We produce in limited quantities, focus on quality materials, and prioritise craftsmanship over excess. The result is clothing designed to be worn, valued, and kept.

Mary E. Sonda

Welcome to my fashion glamour world! Though I graduated in 2015 with Bachelor's degree in Finance, my obsession is all things fashion and beauty.

My passion for fashion and style began as a little girl and reached greater heights through the unique experience of being an entrepreneur, using what I love most to be independent financially and to share with the world my designs that I hope can be embraced by all cultures. In particular, I want to share my appreciation of the use of African prints which expresses and embraces my home country of Tanzania. After many years of training and preparation in the art of making couture garments, I'm excited to share my designs that I hope will give the wearer a boost of confidence and feeling of beauty with clothes that fit well and embrace the curves of every body.

Africa is rich in cultural heritage and diversity and has wealth of natural resources and breathtaking tourist attractions. One of my biggest dreams is being an ambassador for Tanzanian and Africa's culture and to represent it on a global stage with though my garments. I believe at Hollo Couture we've got all it takes to help build something beautiful that will embrace Tanzania and share it with he world. My goal is to have a product that will be designed to fit the different modern styles of our generation and generations to come. Our motto is to produce a product to "Exist Loudly".

I have got so much in store for you! This is a beginning for us getting lost in the fashion world, so I invite you all to experience this amazing journey with me 'cause it's about to get lit in here. We're all about to "EXIST LOUDLY" with amazing styles and trendy designs that will make us feel good about ourselves 👌

Xoxo ☺️

George Scorgie

With a career spent living and working around the globe, from the UK to Australia, Uzbekistan, China, the UAE, Zambia,  Türkiye, and Monaco, I have always been passionate about exploring and living in places that few visit.

Hollo Couture represents the culmination of that exploration, driven by the passion to bring the creativity, colour, artistry, joy and life of Africa to a global audience. There's an old saying that it doesn't matter whether you're born in Africa, what matters is that Africa is born in you and I'd love it, if by chance, wearing a Hollo Couture garment made for you by our team in Dar es Salaam, you too became an explorer in whatever way speaks to your soul.

As an economist, I know first hand the ability of the global economy to change lives, build communities, and help countless millions to lead more fulfilling lives with greater opportunity. I also know, that the word of fashion in particular is very wasteful, and in my opinion, perhaps even a little soulless.

You can't stand out by being the same as others and as Mary always says, our mission at Hollo Couture is to help you EXIST LOUDLY.

We're not fast fashion: we make it only as you order it, and we make it ourselves. We've hired the best local craftsmen and we pay them a fair wage. We respect their time and their skills and we want them to grow with us.

If you've taken the time to read the About Us page, and you've gotten to the last paragraph of my bio then I want you to know I appreciate that time. I hope you find something in our collection that makes you feel different, that makes you stand out, that makes you feel connected to your journey and makes you exist as loudly as absolutely possible.

Betty E. Sonda

Betty's journey into fashion wasn't a straight line and that's what makes her work so distinctive. With a background in engineering and project management, she spent years mastering precision, structure, and the art of bringing complex ideas to life. As part of the Hollo Couture team, she has brought all of those skills with her.

Today, Betty applies that same thoughtful, analytical eye to every design. She believes that fashion should feel as good as it looks—each piece carefully considered, beautifully constructed, and made to be worn with confidence. For Betty, a design isn't just something you wear; it's part of your story. And through Hollo Couture, she creates collections that speak to women who value elegance, quality, and the quiet power of understated luxury.
